Well the Ground Hogs Day Celebration held at Pelican Point on the Lake of the Ozarks, went off real well. We had dry weather for loading in all the recording gear and everyone that said they were coming was able to find the place. The 1st day and a half was spent with the original members of OPEN>Sunday. You would remember them from Kennealy's down in Soulard. It was like the days back in Stan's Pawn Shop down on Delmar and Kingshighway some 7 years ago. The music was fresh and the feeling that something magical was happening, was felt often.

Then they split and in rolled the whole OPEN>Sunday crew, along with four very special guests. Twenty hours of music with four hours of sleep, for two days. There was even a stretch there for about four hours where I got to play the drums again. Man did that feel good. With George and Paul playing the old Weather Report songs off of Birdland. I couldn't believe I could hang with them, keeping the beat as I remember it.

Sunday mid-day came and it was 70 deg. outside for the load out. One of the best moments was after the lock was placed on the door of the trailer. And all was loaded for the trip home. Five of us sat out on Pelican Point talking and reminiscing about the weekend activities. Enjoying the weather and each others company. It was obvious. No one wanted to go home.

I receive an email from one of those five people that hung around after the load out. Above is a picture of where we were sitting just before we left. Pretty neato...
